He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not (Part 1)
Have you ever been in a “relationship” where you were not exactly sure whether you were loved?? Have you ever unconsciously found yourself suspecting every man that comes around you is your ‘Boaz’?? My answer to this is YES!! However, regardless of your answers to these questions, I am writing this post series from my heart to yours. This is to encourage and remind you that even in the midst of the wait, we can rest securely and absolutely in the Father’s Love. A few years ago, I was in this “friendship” with a guy (we’ll call him Nick). Nick was a “good person” and a “good friend”. He was…

Tough Trust (Part 1)
In 2010 pain and her retinue visited my cute happy family. Just when we thought our boat was sailing smoothly a sudden storm hit our tribe. My Daddy was diagnosed with a rare nervous system disease, Motor Neuron Disease; a condition that affects the nerve cells and leads to a progressive weakening and degeneration of all the muscles in the body, which eventually affects the ability to breathe. Things happened so fast, yet in slow motion. After a bit, we watched my super Daddy go from limping to being carried, and finally to being paralyzed and permanently bed ridden. He was put on a ventilator machine to supply oxygen directly…

You’re Better Than This!!!
Lately, I’ve seen how many ladies get themselves all messed up in the hands of men they’re not supposed to be with. Misused, taken for granted and dragged into a pool of shame and hurt. And the question I ask myself is; “doesn’t this lady know how much she is worth?” And the sad thing is when you ask them why they are still there, they either tell you that they “love” him, or that he is God’s will. Excuse me, God is your Father and He wouldn’t subject you to someone who will hurt and maltreat you, because He himself will not do so to you. You are a…

Building Your Godly community (Part 2)
Last time we met, we came to an understanding that having a community, a Godly one, is vital to fulfilling purpose. If you haven’t read it, you can do that here (http://www.hersingledays.com/2018/11/05/building-your-godly-community-part-1/) Today I want to show you 3 simple and practical steps to building your Godly Community. I am not a preacher or a theologian, but I am speaking from experience, that’s why I believe God lets us go through somethings, so we can come out on the other side stronger and help others. Before we dive right in, I would like to share a scripture that reiterates the need for a community and that is in Ecclesiastes 4:9-12…

Redefining DESPERATE (Part 2)
Desperate comes from a Latin word “desperare” which means “despair”. I was so stunned when I saw the definition in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary: According to it’s definition, desperate means: Having lost hope, giving no ground for hope, moved by despair or utter loss of hope, involving or employing extreme measures in an attempt to escape defeat or frustration, suffering extreme need or anxiety, involving extreme danger or possible disaster of extreme intensity. Wow! Too much negative emotions in just one word. You can then begin to imagine what a desperate person would look, sound or act like. The system of this world is filled with a lot of things to…

Redefining DESPERATE (Part 1)
Have you ever wondered why single women are often tagged “desperate” while the single men are almost always let off the hook? This really boggles my mind! Is this true or it is just a stereotype? (I would love to know your opinion). I believe just like pain, desperation does not know or have a gender. However, viewing it from society’s lens, it seems like it wears a slim fit dress, high heel shoes, and lipstick. Whether male or female, it takes only God’s grace to live in this broken and wounded world without letting its spiky edges pierce your heart or drive you into a state of despair. I…

Building your Godly Community (Part 1)
Growing up, one of my favourite cartoons was Pocahontas because it fascinated me. For a lot of people, the romance was the intrigue but for me it was one thing that many would not even have noticed but my young mind was captured. Pocahontas was a woman of her ‘people’. Every time her father would speak of ‘her people’ and I would wonder who these people were. At that age I thought Pocahontas was the luckiest girl on earth to have a people who hard her back and looked up to her. As I got older I understood that they were simply referring to people that came from the same…

My Quiet Time
I woke up this morning feeling very drowsy and tired. Guess it was because I went to bed quite late or maybe I am not just a morning person! As usual, it took me quite a while to peel myself out of bed. When I eventually realized I was awake and not in a dream, I got up and reached out for my phone to check the time. To my greatest surprise and joy, it was about 4:30am. I was so elated and pleased with myself. For about 4months now, the Holy Spirit has been prompting me to wake up earlier to spend some time with Him and in the…

Don’t Settle for Safe By Sarah Jakes Roberts (Book Review)
Don’t Settle for Safe: Embracing the Uncomfortable to Become Unstoppable By Sarah Jakes Roberts 208 pages Published April 18th, 2017 by Thomas Nelson Sarah Jakes Roberts is a popular and profound speaker, business woman, media personality and best-selling author. She is the author of “Colliding with Purpose”, “Dear Mary” and “Lost and Found”. Reading her words can be an invaluable and impactful experience just like hearing her speak or preach. I tried to play the “in one word’ game with ‘Don’t settle for Safe’ but I couldn’t. It is almost impossible to describe the entire book in just one word. Sarah, as usual poured out her heart and soul in…

The Girl Behind the Make Up
About two years ago I was privileged to attend a make-up school on a scholarship. My experience at “Make-Believe” (the name of the school) was very exceptional and enlightening. Prior to attending the school, I thought there wasn’t a lot of work attached to the art of makeup but as I spent more time at the school, I began to realize that makeup goes beyond just the application of cosmetics to the face. It involves the systematic, creative and skilful application of cosmetics to not only the face but the entire body. This enhances a person’s beauty, alters or completely changes the look and appearance of an individual to mimic…
